What are Microprocessors Used for Today?

Just about anything electronic.

What makes the microprocessor so interesting is its number of possible applications. The list goes on forever, but here is a good measure of examples: global positioning systems (GPS), calculators, automatic transaction machines (ATM), camcorders, traffic light timers, compact disk players, gaming platforms, cellphones, videocassette recorders (VCR), cameras,  laundry machines, microwaves, dish washers, computers, answering machines, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), automated gas pumps, and many more. Today, an average home contains about 40 embedded processors; and automobiles can have anywhere between 20-100 microprocessors.
